Learn More About Our Dedicated Team of Volunteers

Laura Rosso
Founder & CEO
While traveling the world as a make-up artist, I often volunteered with local charities along the way. That’s how I really came to see the power of one person, with the right mindset and lots of energy, to make a difference.
When the pandemic hit in 2020, I saw a chance to bring two of my passions together: helping people in need and reducing food waste. That’s how ThanksGiver Schweiz was born. What started as just an idea has grown into a network of food banks, aimed at closing the gap between food waste and food insecurity.
The name ThanksGiver Schweiz reflects the spirit behind it all – being thankful for what you have and sharing it. And seeing where we are today, I can honestly say: I’m so grateful.
Organizational Development & Strategic Support
As Laura’s right hand, I get to help shape and grow ThanksGiver Schweiz for long-term impact – combining future-focused thinking with a healthy dose of hands-on action. Whether it's rolling up my sleeves or looking at the big picture, I love contributing to an initiative that makes a real difference for individuals and families in need.
What makes it even better? The incredible, cross-cultural team I get to work with every day staffed by smart, committed, and and caring volunteers.
With many years of experience as an international consultant and executive coach in cross-cultural leadership, I’m passionate about building resilient and culturally intelligent organizations. At ThanksGiver Schweiz I get to do just that, all while having fun and seeing results in real time.
Monika Jordi
Coordination & Foundation Support
At ThanksGiver Schweiz, I jump in wherever I’m needed from coordinating events to handling communication and foundation outreach to lending a hand at the food bank in Zwingen. That means I get to see both sides of the work we do, which is mega rewarding! I was immediately drawn to the idea of rescuing surplus food and bringing it directly to those who need it most.
With a background in administration and years of experience supporting management and organizational processes, I now bring those skills to a cause that truly matters. What I love most is the energy and dedication of the team – especially Laura, whose passion is truly contagious. And as one of the two Swiss people on the team, I add a little Swissness now and then which is particularly helpful when things need to pass the "Bünzli test"!

Website & Graphic Design
With a degree in art history, I’ve spent my career working in design studios and advertising agencies around the world helping corporations, creative organizations, schools, and nonprofits shape their visual identity. At ThanksGiver Schweiz, I take care of the website and graphic design, which is the perfect way to do what I love while supporting a cause that really matters to me.
What I enjoy most is working with such a diverse and motivated group of people. We all come from different backgrounds, but we share the same goal: reducing food waste and helping people in need right here in Switzerland.
Unlocking Funding Potential
I started out in industrial design and spent years working on innovation and design projects in different countries. These days, I’m much more focused on sustainability, especially the connections between people, nature, and the planet. Volunteering at ThanksGiver Schweiz fits perfectly with that shift. It’s all about reducing food waste and helping people, which just makes total sense to me.
What I love most is being part of such a great team – Laura and everyone here bring so much energy and heart to what they do. It’s inspiring, and it makes me want to give my best every day.
Marina Djakovic
Marketing, Communications, & Corporate Fundraising
My background is in business, and I’ve spent over ten years working in marketing, communications, and international sales, so I bring a good mix of commercial and hands-on experience to my role at the food bank. After stepping away from my last job to figure out what really matters to me, I found ThanksGiver Schweiz and knew it was the right place to give back in a meaningful way.
What I love most is the sense of purpose and teamwork. It’s amazing to work with such kind, capable people who are all here to make a real difference. It’s energizing and honestly, really rewarding.
Sarah Fontana
Sustainability & Food Waste Expert
I’ve been volunteering with ThanksGiver Schweiz for nearly five years, starting out by helping with deliveries, packing food bags, and distributing items every Thursday. Over time, I’ve taken on more of a focus around food waste and sustainability — areas I care deeply about both professionally and personally.
I first got involved because I wanted to give back to the community, something that was always highly valued in my family. As a qualified nutritionist with a strong interest in sustainable food systems, this felt like a very real way to help. What I find most rewarding about working with ThanksGiver Schweiz is the sense of community and shared purpose in being part of a hands-on team that supports people directly.
